On January 21, the General Office of the Guangdong Provincial People's Government unveiled a set of policy measures aimed at leveraging artificial intelligence to propel high-quality development within the transportation sector of Guangdong Province. The policy outlines support for enterprises to harness the computational prowess of the data center cluster in Shaoguan, the traffic industry data center situated in Wengyuan, Shaoguan, as well as the computing resources across various cities, thereby fostering an orderly enhancement of their own computational capacities. Concurrently, it advocates for the strategic placement of edge computing nodes in pivotal traffic zones, including road segments, bridges, tunnels, ports, and hub stations, to construct a synergistic framework that combines 'centralized core computing power with instantaneous edge computing capabilities.' Moreover, the policy encourages the research and refinement of industry-specific scenario perception algorithms, discriminative model algorithms, and other related technologies. It also promotes the widespread adoption and application of cutting-edge information and communication technologies such as 5G, Beidou, and fiber-optic networks within the transportation realm, with the vision of establishing a high-speed, reliable, integrated, and low-latency network for traffic sensing and data transmission.
