As embodied artificial intelligence technology advances, the range of interaction scenarios between robots and humans has expanded significantly, placing greater emphasis on the need for robots to possess advanced tactile perception capabilities. Presently, tactile sensing systems still lag far behind human tactile perception in terms of spatial resolution, multidimensional sensing, and signal interpretation. While visual-tactile sensors can achieve sub-millimeter resolution through imaging techniques, they still encounter difficulties in areas such as multispectral sensing. Hence, overcoming the resolution limitations of tactile sensors, boosting multimodal fusion capabilities, and attaining multimodal tactile signal interpretation have emerged as pivotal scientific challenges in propelling robots towards achieving "human-like tactile perception."
