A research team hailing from Columbia University in the United States has achieved a groundbreaking feat by, for the very first time, seamlessly integrating optical tweezers with metasurface technology. Through this innovative integration, they have proposed and successfully validated a scalable neutral atom array technology. This remarkable advancement holds immense promise as it is anticipated to significantly scale up quantum computers. Currently, quantum computers operate with around 1,000 qubits, but with this new technology, the scale could potentially soar to over 100,000 qubits. Such a leap would be instrumental in laying a solid foundation for the construction of large-scale quantum computers.
