Meta is redirecting its resources to focus on the advancement of artificial intelligence technology. As part of this strategic shift, the company intends to lay off a minimum of 10% of the workforce within its virtual reality research and development division, known as Reality Labs. Currently, this division employs around 15,000 individuals. The announcement regarding the layoffs could be made as soon as Tuesday. This move arrives at a pivotal moment, as Meta is keen on cementing its standing in the fiercely competitive AI landscape of Silicon Valley.
