The esteemed AI expert Andrew Ng has put forward a novel objective: to conceive a new evaluation framework, dubbed the Turing-AGI Test, which will serve as a specialized benchmark for gauging Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). He emphasized that 2025 heralds the dawn of the AI industrial age. However, at present, there is a lack of a universally accepted definition for AGI. Moreover, the existing evaluation methods are prone to misleading the public into having an exaggerated perception of AI's capabilities. The Turing-AGI Test mandates that AI systems must successfully accomplish knowledge-intensive tasks, akin to those performed in customer service roles, within multi-day simulated work environments. This approach is designed to assess the AI's economic viability and its ability to generate tangible results in real-world settings. Andrew Ng is of the opinion that this test will help adjust societal expectations regarding AI, dispel the overblown hype surrounding it, and establish well-defined objectives for the progression of AI technology.
