British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has announced that decisive measures will be taken against Elon Musk’s X platform, urging it to swiftly address the issue of its AI tool, Grok, generating sexualized images of minors. Starmer condemned such behavior as “shameful, disgusting, and utterly unacceptable,” emphasizing that the platform must immediately enhance its content moderation efforts. He underscored that such images are not only morally reprehensible but also illegal under British law.
Third-party research indicates that the X platform has emerged as a major hub for the dissemination of inappropriate AI-generated content. British authorities have uncovered illegal images on the dark web, reportedly created by Grok, which meet the criteria for law enforcement action. Starmer stated that the British government will fully back efforts by Ofcom, the UK’s communications regulator, which has already confirmed it is investigating the allegations and is in direct communication with Musk’s company.
