The latest report reveals that Chinese tech startup DeepSeek has become a strong competitor to ChatGPT and has secured a solid foothold in multiple developing countries, with the potential to narrow the gap in AI technology application between these nations and developed countries. Microsoft researchers pointed out that in the three months ending in December, the global user penetration rate of generative AI tools reached 16.3%. However, the gap in AI application between developed and developing countries is widening, with the former's application growth rate nearly twice that of the latter. The chief data scientist of Microsoft's 'AI for Good Lab' expressed concerns about this.
