People's Financial News, January 8th – The Hefei Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China has unveiled a comprehensive proposal for the formulation of the 15th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development in Hefei City. This proposal places a strategic emphasis on artificial intelligence (AI), aiming to carve out Hefei's position as a nationally preeminent innovation hub for AI.

To realize this vision, the proposal outlines a series of specific measures. These include the implementation of high-caliber, general-purpose, and vertical large-scale model cultivation projects. Additionally, there are plans to establish a national AI application pilot base and an AI material creation center, fostering an environment conducive to AI innovation and application. The proposal also calls for the acceleration of the 'AI for Science' research paradigm transformation, highlighting AI's potential to revolutionize scientific research methodologies.

Furthermore, the proposal underscores the necessity of strengthening AI's empowering role across various sectors. This encompasses industrial development, cultural construction, livelihood support, and social governance, thereby integrating AI into the fabric of societal progress. In terms of infrastructure, the plan advocates for the enhancement of digital new infrastructure, including the construction of a new generation of integrated computing clusters and internationally leading large-scale intelligent computing clusters. A 'five-in-one' supercomputing network is also envisioned, aimed at bolstering computational capabilities.

Moreover, the proposal emphasizes the importance of fortifying communication network infrastructure. It advocates for the in-depth coverage of fifth-generation mobile communications (5G) and proactively laying the groundwork for the deployment of sixth-generation mobile communications (6G), ensuring Hefei remains at the forefront of technological advancements.
