Three pivotal members of Apple's Face ID development team have banded together to establish a startup called Lyte. This new venture is dedicated to advancing technologies that bolster robotic vision and facilitate safer environmental awareness for robots. On Monday this week, Lyte stepped out of the shadows, revealing that it has secured approximately $107 million in funding.

These three ex-Apple employees played a crucial role in creating the depth-sensing and perception systems that underpin Face ID. Notably, Shpunt was a co-founder of Prime Sense, a company specializing in 3D sensing technology. In 2013, Apple acquired Prime Sense for $350 million, and the technology developed by the company laid the groundwork for Face ID. Shpunt has expressed their intention to infuse the robotics market with the same innovative spirit and design philosophy that Apple is renowned for.
