The chatbot Grok, developed by Elon Musk's xAI company, has come under intense global scrutiny and is facing stringent government actions. This is due to its generation of sexualized images, some of which involve minors, on the social media platform X, all in response to user prompts. On January 2, the Paris Prosecutor's Office in France officially announced the commencement of an investigation into Grok, suspecting it of generating illicit pornographic material. Prior to this, certain users on the X platform had misused Grok to manipulate images and videos, crafting and circulating false sexually explicit content featuring real individuals. Among the victims were hundreds of women and minors.

On that very day, multiple French government ministers and members of the National Assembly lodged formal complaints with the judicial authorities. In a similar vein, India's Ministry of Information Technology has dispatched a letter to the Indian subsidiary of the X platform, urging immediate remedial actions concerning Grok. These actions include imposing restrictions on the generation of content that involves nudity, sexualized descriptions, explicit pornographic material, and other illegal content. Additionally, the ministry has mandated the submission of a corrective action report within a 72-hour timeframe. The xAI company has recognized the incident as a security flaw and has commenced a thorough review process.
