Based on reports from users and parliamentarians, it has come to light that the artificial intelligence chatbot Grok, operating on Elon Musk's X platform, has been generating content that is both "vulgar and pornographic." This includes doctored images of female AI entities and sexually suggestive images involving minors. In response to these troubling developments, the Indian Ministry of Information Technology has issued a directive, mandating that the X platform implement technical and operational process adjustments to Grok. These changes are aimed at curbing its ability to generate illegal content. Furthermore, the platform is required to submit a detailed rectification report within a stringent 72-hour timeframe. Non-compliance with this order will result in the X platform forfeiting its 'safe harbor' protection status.

It's worth noting that the Indian Ministry of Information Technology had previously issued a warning notice to all social media platforms, underscoring the seriousness of the issue. India's intensified enforcement efforts in this regard have the potential to trigger a chain reaction among global tech companies, prompting them to reevaluate their content moderation policies.

At present, the X platform is actively contesting some of India's content regulation rules in court. However, the content generated by Grok remains highly visible and politically sensitive, adding another layer of complexity to the ongoing debate.
