On December 30, 2025, Meta declared its acquisition of the AI agent firm Manus for billions of dollars. This deal stands as Meta's third-largest merger and acquisition since its founding, coming in second in scale only to its purchases of WhatsApp and Scale AI. Based on an on-site inspection, it was found that while Manus' Wuhan office premises haven't been completely emptied, a significant portion of the office space has been cleared out. Only three or four people were present, and none of them were from the business team. The majority of the core business staff have been transferred en masse to Singapore. Manus, developed by Beijing Butterfly Effect Technology Co., Ltd., will see its core team integrate into Meta. This integration aims to support the rollout of general agent technology across Meta's entire spectrum of consumer and enterprise products. Meanwhile, Manus will keep offering products and subscription services via its app and website, with its operations now centered in Singapore.
