In his article titled "Stepping Boldly into the New Year," Chen Maobo, the Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, outlined that by 2026, Hong Kong aims to expedite the development of a world-class innovation and technology center, with a strong emphasis on collaborative efforts with cities within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Hong Kong is vigorously nurturing the artificial intelligence (AI) sector, driving the modernization and transformation of traditional industries through the implementation of an "AI+" strategy. Concentrated efforts are being directed towards six pivotal domains: computing capacity, algorithm development, data utilization, application creation, financial backing, and talent development. Within the biopharmaceutical realm, Hong Kong possesses considerable strengths and is committed to continuously drawing in top-tier pharmaceutical firms and medical research entities to set up operations. Moreover, it plans to institute a "first-tier approval" system for the registration of drugs and medical devices, thereby reinforcing its stance as a regional hub for medical research and development.
