As reported by CNBC, job cuts have emerged as a defining characteristic of the U.S. labor market in 2025. A wave of layoffs has swept through the nation, as a multitude of large-scale enterprises have announced the dismissal of thousands of employees, primarily driven by the widespread adoption of AI technology. Data compiled by the consulting firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas reveals that approximately 55,000 job cuts in the U.S. this year can be attributed to AI. As we stand in 2025, the cumulative number of layoffs nationwide has soared to 1.17 million, representing the highest figure since the staggering 2.2 million job losses witnessed during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. In October of this year alone, U.S. employers announced the layoff of 153,000 workers. The following month, November, saw an additional 71,000-plus job cuts, with over 6,000 positions being eliminated specifically due to the implementation of AI technology.
