Market reports reveal that NVIDIA is set to host a closed-door summit next week, with the primary objective of tackling the escalating power shortage issues that have arisen in the AI era. Earlier this month, Morgan Stanley revised its projection for the cumulative power deficit in U.S. data centers from 2025 to 2028, increasing it from 44 gigawatts to 47 gigawatts. This deficit is comparable to the electricity consumption of nine cities the size of Miami or fifteen cities on par with Philadelphia. Goldman Sachs had previously pointed out that the rate of power consumption by AI server clusters far outstrips the expansion rate of the power grid, indicating that power supply could emerge as the most significant bottleneck in the AI age. The bank further posits that the crux of constructing the next generation of data centers lies not in developing faster chips, but rather in devising more innovative power financing solutions.
