During the GPT-5.2 media briefing, Fidji Simo, CEO of OpenAI's Applications Division, disclosed that ChatGPT's adult mode is anticipated to roll out in the first quarter of 2026. Earlier, platforms like Musk's xAI Grok had already gained the ability to manage NSFW (Not Safe For Work) content. Moreover, OpenAI's CEO has repeatedly alluded to the potential introduction of analogous functionalities.

Fidji Simo elaborated that OpenAI intends to bolster its age-prediction technology prior to launching adult content features. This move aims to automatically detect underage users and bar them from accessing relevant content. At present, the age-prediction function is in its nascent testing phase and has been deployed for trials in select countries. OpenAI is committed to ensuring that this feature can precisely pinpoint teenage users without erroneously classifying adult users. Only after achieving this accuracy will the adult content feature be officially launched, with ongoing monitoring to follow.
