Leading scientists now express regret over their past belief that the United States would dominate all technological sectors for the foreseeable future. This view has been significantly challenged. Retrospective analyses from the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (ITIF) and the Nature journal website indicate that China is making a silent yet impactful technological resurgence. Data reveals that out of 64 key technologies, China now leads in 57, leaving the U.S. with a mere 7. China has not only surpassed the U.S. in basic scientific research output, total paper publications, and citation impact but has also fostered increasingly close research collaborations with Europe.
