Informed sources reveal that AI upstart Anthropic is engaged in negotiations to acquire Bun, a provider of code runtime services. The deal's valuation is projected to soar into the hundreds of millions of dollars. Should the acquisition materialize, it will stand as Anthropic's inaugural merger and acquisition endeavor since its founding.
The two entities have been working in tandem for more than half a year. Once the acquisition is finalized, Bun's cutting-edge technology will be seamlessly woven into Anthropic's Claude Code. This integration is anticipated to slash latency and failure rates in large-scale code operations, expedite batch generation and testing processes, and curtail cloud resource utilization.
Industry experts are of the opinion that this strategic move will fill the gaps in Anthropic's 'code execution layer'. At present, the deal is progressing through the due diligence stage, with expectations of reaching completion as early as the first quarter of 2026.
