Zheng Shanjie, who serves as the Director of the National Development and Reform Commission, articulated in an article the pressing need to fortify national security capabilities in pivotal sectors. This involves solidifying the bedrock of national security and safeguarding the security of food supplies, energy resources, critical industrial and supply chains, as well as major infrastructure projects. Additionally, there is a call for intensified efforts in the exploration, development, and stockpiling of strategic mineral resources. Simultaneously, it is of utmost importance to elevate the capacity to preempt and mitigate risks, orchestrate and propel the systematic resolution of risks in realms such as real estate, local government debt, and small to medium-sized financial institutions. Furthermore, the focus should also be on enhancing the construction of national security capabilities in burgeoning fields like cyberspace, data, and artificial intelligence (AI), reflecting the evolving landscape of security threats and opportunities.
