On November 28, a press conference held by the National Intellectual Property Administration revealed that China will strengthen ethical review of artificial intelligence in patent examination to guide 'intelligent technologies for good'. The newly revised 'Guidelines for Patent Examination' includes, for the first time, a dedicated chapter on 'Artificial Intelligence and Big Data', which will come into effect on January 1, 2026.
