Last month, Microsoft ended its support for Windows 10 and urged users to switch to Windows 11. But on November 26 (local time), Jeffrey Clarke, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Dell, highlighted that the adoption rate of Windows 11 is markedly slower compared to the rate during the equivalent time when Windows 10 support was discontinued. In fact, the overall migration to Windows 11 is trailing by roughly 10 to 12 percentage points. Clarke mentioned that currently, around 500 million PCs cannot upgrade to Windows 11 because they do not fulfill the minimum system requirements. While, in theory, these outdated devices could be swapped out for new ones, consumers' enthusiasm for buying new Windows 11 - compatible devices is rather low.

In the meantime, Microsoft is actively working on resolving problems with Windows 11 and boosting its artificial intelligence (AI) features. Dell and AMD are also vigorously promoting their own AI tools. Even though there is a lack of strong incentive for users to upgrade, Dell still managed to generate $27 billion in revenue this quarter. Moreover, the company anticipates that its revenue for fiscal year 2026 will hit a new record high, thanks to a large volume of AI server orders that have positioned it at the forefront of the 'AI race'.
