As reported by TechNode, Singapore’s National AI Programme (AISG) has made a strategic pivot, transitioning its Sea-Lion large language model from the Meta framework to Alibaba Cloud’s Qwen architecture. On November 25, the Qwen-SEA-LION-v4 model, introduced by AISG, soared to the top of the open-source rankings, particularly excelling in its proficiency with Southeast Asian languages. Previously, the Meta-based model struggled to effectively process regional languages like Indonesian and Thai. In contrast, the Qwen model, inherently designed with multilingual capabilities, is more adept at catering to the linguistic diversity and specific needs of the local context.
