Zhang Weiping, who holds the position of Chair Professor at the School of Physics and Astronomy, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and also serves as an Adjunct Researcher at the Tsung-Dao Lee Institute, has guided his team to achieve remarkable advancements in the realm of quantum information memory. The team has successfully crafted a cutting-edge broadband quantum memory technology that excels in efficiency, fidelity, and noise reduction. They have elucidated the mechanisms underlying optical-atomic spatiotemporal manipulation in quantum memory and have innovated an intelligently regulated spin-wave compression methodology. This breakthrough effectively tackles the dilemma of reconciling high efficiency with minimal noise in current quantum memory systems. Operating under a 60 MHz bandwidth, this technology boasts an impressive storage efficiency of 94.6%, a quantum fidelity rate of 98.91%, and an exceptionally low noise level of merely 0.026 photons per pulse.
