On November 17, 2025, Alibaba made a significant announcement: the launch of its 'QianWen' project, marking its official foray into the AI-to-consumer (AI-to-C) market. Simultaneously, the public beta version of the QianWen App was made available to the public.
Developed based on the globally renowned open-source model Qwen3, the QianWen App not only provides free services but also boasts a deep integration with a wide array of life-scenario ecosystems. This positions it as a direct competitor to ChatGPT.
Alibaba's top management team regards this project as the pivotal battleground in the AI era. Presently, users can access the public beta version of the QianWen App through major app stores. Additionally, both web and PC versions have been launched to cater to a broader user base.
Alibaba has ambitious plans to further enrich the QianWen App by incorporating various life scenarios, including mapping services, food delivery, ticket booking, office productivity tools, online shopping, and health management. These integrations are aimed at bolstering the app's functionality and enhancing user experience.
