Recently, a concerning trend has emerged where certain online accounts have leveraged AI technology to impersonate well-known public figures and disseminate marketing content. Such practices are strongly suspected of involving false advertising and online infringement, posing a significant threat to the integrity of the online ecosystem. In response, the Cyberspace Administration has taken stringent measures, imposing severe penalties on a number of accounts found to be in violation of laws and regulations. Additionally, the administration has urged website platforms to undertake thorough cleanup operations.
To date, these efforts have resulted in the removal of over 8,700 pieces of non-compliant information and the handling of more than 11,000 accounts engaged in impersonation. Moving forward, the Cyberspace Administration will continue to hold website platforms accountable, ensuring strict regulation of AI-driven impersonation of public figures in live-stream marketing. Furthermore, it will remain vigilant in identifying, addressing, and publicly exposing accounts involved in malicious marketing practices.
