Before joining ByteDance, Ren Zeyu had stints at Luoshu Technology and Xiaomi Group, with his primary research area centered around robotic system integration. He boasts a following of over 80,000 on Zhihu, a well - known Chinese Q&A platform. In July of this year, he made a public announcement, stating that he had been heavily involved in the GR - 3 project and went on to explain its underlying principles in great detail. The GR - 3 project represents an entirely new model put forward by the ByteDance Seed team. Ren Zeyu completed his undergraduate studies at the Zhukogen College of Zhejiang University in 2015. Subsequently, he earned his Ph.D. in Robotics from the Italian Institute of Technology in 2019. Following that, he gained postdoctoral research experience and held positions as a mechatronics engineer and a senior R&D engineer prior to his tenure at ByteDance Seed.
