On November 12, as reported by Business Insider, Eric Schmidt, the former CEO of Google, expressed his concern that, driven by cost considerations, a significant number of countries might eventually turn to Chinese AI models. During his appearance on the podcast 'Moonshots', Schmidt pointed out that while leading U.S. AI models are predominantly closed-source, their Chinese counterparts are largely open-source. Open-source models are available free of charge, in contrast to closed-source models which typically require payment. Consequently, governments and nations with constrained financial resources may ultimately lean towards adopting Chinese AI models.
