Apple has made an announcement stating that its AI-driven "real-time translation" capability will be officially available on AirPods headphones across the EU region in December. However, due to the requirements of the EU's Digital Markets Act, there might be a delay in rolling out this feature. In the upcoming month, this feature will make its debut on AirPods Pro 3, Pro 2, and AirPods 4 models in the EU, enabling automatic translation across multiple languages and smooth switching between two sets of AirPods. The reason for the launch delay is the necessity for "extra engineering efforts" to safeguard user privacy and security.

At present, in the EU region, users whose iPhones are equipped with Apple Intelligence and have been upgraded to the latest iOS 26.2 developer beta can already enjoy the real-time translation feature in advance through their paired AirPods. Moreover, a public beta software update is expected to be released to users shortly.
