Strike3 Holdings has leveled accusations against Meta, alleging that the company illegally downloaded 2,400 adult videos through torrent platforms for the purpose of AI training. Strike3 Holdings is seeking damages in excess of $350 million, asserting that Meta employed a clandestine network to carry out these downloads. In response, Meta has filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit in a U.S. district court. Meta underscores that the allegations are baseless, asserting that any downloading was for personal use and had no connection to AI training endeavors. Furthermore, Meta highlights that the alleged downloads took place prior to the launch of its AI projects.

Meta also draws attention to the fact that its terms of service explicitly prohibit the generation of adult content. It contends that the volume of the supposed downloads is too insignificant to be reliably attributed to its employees and suggests that other internet users could be responsible. Strike3 Holdings has not provided conclusive evidence establishing a link between the downloads and Meta. Consequently, Meta is hopeful that the court will rule in favor of its motion to dismiss the case.
