On October 5, 2025, Bloomberg reported that Apple is on the hunt for a new leader to helm its artificial intelligence division, a move set to replace the incumbent head, John Giannandrea. The shakeup in personnel is attributed to the lackluster debut of Apple Intelligence and the postponement of a significant Siri upgrade. Following Giannandrea's reassignment in March 2025, Apple had temporarily placed Mike Rockwell, the leader of Vision Pro, in charge of overseeing Siri's development. However, the prospects of his being formally appointed to the position have dwindled considerably. At present, Apple's top brass are casting their gaze outward, with a keen eye on poaching AI experts from rival firm Meta. Meta recently underwent a reorganization of its AI division and launched a 'Superintelligence Lab,' a move that could potentially trigger a talent exodus, thereby opening up recruitment avenues for Apple.
