At the Conference on Robot Learning (CoRL), NVIDIA made an exciting announcement: the beta release of Isaac Lab now includes the open-source physics engine Newton. Moreover, the company unveiled Isaac GR00T N1.6, an open-source inference vision-language-action model designed for robot skills. This new release also features an updated version of the Cosmos world foundation model, along with a full suite of AI infrastructure. Together, these offerings create a comprehensive open-source acceleration platform tailored for robot development.

Newton, a collaborative effort between NVIDIA, Google DeepMind, and Disney Research, is constructed on the NVIDIA Warp and OpenUSD frameworks and is overseen by the Linux Foundation. By harnessing GPU acceleration, this engine allows for highly accurate simulations of intricate robotic movements. This capability gives researchers and developers the tools they need to build more capable and adaptable robots.
