On September 19 (local time), D.J. Seo, the president of Neuralink—a brain-computer interface company founded by Elon Musk—revealed that the company is set to commence a brain-computer interface implantation trial in October. This trial will specifically target individuals who have lost their speech capabilities. The core objective of the trial is to empower participants to seamlessly transform their thoughts into text, eliminating the necessity for a keyboard, through the implantation of the device. At present, Neuralink has triumphantly implanted its N1 brain-computer interface device in seven patients. Among them, four are individuals with spinal cord injuries, and three are patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. All these patients have received approval from the U.S. FDA and have commenced utilizing the device.
