Tencent's official public account issued a statement to debunk a rumor, clarifying that the assertion "Yao Shunyu, a former staff member of OpenAI, has joined Tencent with a salary package worth hundreds of millions" is untrue. Yao Shunyu completed his undergraduate studies at the renowned Tsinghua Yao Class and went on to secure a Ph.D. from Princeton University. In 2024, he embarked on a new journey by joining OpenAI, where he actively contributed to product development, and his research achievements have been widely recognized and implemented. During his doctoral pursuit, he put forward significant frameworks and architectures. In May 2025, Yao Shunyu earned the distinction of being the youngest individual ever selected for the TR35 China list by MIT Technology Review.
