Concerns over potential fraud have prompted German banks to block over €10 billion (approximately $11.7 billion) in PayPal payments, according to a report by Süddeutsche Zeitung on Wednesday.

The banks reportedly suspended these payments on Monday, following the discovery of millions of suspicious direct debits originating from PayPal the previous week. A PayPal spokesperson confirmed that this temporary disruption affected transactions involving banking partners and their customers, but assured that the issue has since been resolved.

The German Savings Banks Association noted that the incident had a notable impact on payment transactions across Europe, particularly in Germany, but stated that operations have now returned to normal.
