On Sunday, August 24, xAI, the company founded by Elon Musk, announced the official open-sourcing of its artificial intelligence model, Grok 2.5, on the popular open-source platform Hugging Face. Musk, sharing the news on the social media platform X, highlighted that Grok 2.5 is xAI's top model from last year and hinted at the upcoming open-sourcing of Grok 3 in approximately six months. Grok 2.5 boasts an impressive 905 billion parameters, facilitating the processing of lengthy documents and dialogue histories through its innovative mixed expert architecture. The company has stipulated that the model is solely permitted for non-commercial use and compliant commercial applications, expressly prohibiting its utilization for training other foundational models. Additionally, it can only be used for commercial purposes when the annual revenue of the affiliated company does not exceed one million dollars.
