On July 11, reports emerged indicating that the Trump administration intends to loosen export restrictions imposed on the United Arab Emirates (UAE), thereby clearing the path for the nation to acquire cutting-edge technologies, including commercial satellites and AI semiconductors. The U.S. Department of Commerce is set to release a notice in the upcoming week, confirming that the UAE has fulfilled the criteria for more lenient treatment under U.S. export control regulations. The Department of Commerce also highlighted the UAE's alignment with the U.S. position in efforts to counter Iran.

With the easing of these restrictions, UAE companies will gain the ability to purchase advanced AI chips from industry giants such as NVIDIA, AMD, and Cerebras Systems. This development stems from an agreement forged between the United States and the UAE over a year ago, which permits these companies to supply thousands of processors to G42, a technology leader backed by the UAE government, for deployment in newly constructed AI data centers.
