Electronic fabric, also known as electronic-grade fiberglass cloth, serves as a fundamental material within the electronics sector. It finds extensive application in the production of copper-clad laminates and printed circuit boards, which are subsequently integrated into electronic products like data center servers, smartphones, and 5G communication base stations. An investigation by a reporter has unveiled that the escalating demand for computing power this year has propelled a substantial surge in the price of electronic fabric. As of early June, the commonly utilized specifications of electronic fabric have undergone five price hikes this year, with the average price soaring to 7.4 yuan per meter, representing a 100% increase from the low point recorded in the third quarter of the previous year.
Given the exceptionally stringent requirements for equipment and process control in electronic fabric production, capacity expansion is severely constrained. Experts highlight that the tight supply-demand dynamics for electronic fabric are likely to persist. Industry insiders forecast that the timeline for restoring equilibrium in the supply-demand balance within the electronic fabric market remains ambiguous, influenced by the prolonged expansion cycle of electronic yarn and the duration required to implement high-end electronic fabric production capacity.
