The global AI industry is undergoing rapid expansion, resulting in a structural shortage within the NAND Flash storage market. According to Pua Khein Seng, the CEO of Phison Electronics, the user base for AI technologies continues to broaden, with the frequency of their use projected to skyrocket. The progression of AI hinges on both DRAM and NAND Flash technologies, where the escalation in model sizes significantly boosts the need for greater storage capacities. Following the acquisition of GPUs by enterprises, the data generated subsequently propels an even higher demand for storage solutions. Although original manufacturers are ramping up their production capacities, this new output still falls short of meeting the burgeoning demand. It is anticipated that the storage shortage will reach an even more critical level in 2027 than it will in 2026.
