As reported by Gizmodo, Meta’s AI assistant, Muse, surged to the top of the free apps chart in the US App Store mere weeks after its launch. However, it soon found itself banned by Amazon. Amazon demanded that Meta restrict Muse from carrying out shopping activities on its platform, citing Meta’s failure to provide prior notice or secure authorization. Furthermore, Muse allegedly did not reveal its identity while browsing and may have engaged in scraping and storing user login credentials. Amazon underscored the importance of third-party applications operating in an open and transparent manner, showing respect for the choices of service providers. This stance was likened to the collaborative model between food delivery platforms and restaurants.
