On September 23th, Anthropic is in early talks with a data center developer controlled by Apollo Global Management, planning to lease up to 1 gigawatt of computing capacity to reduce its reliance on cloud service providers. According to sources familiar with the matter, Anthropic is considering becoming a direct tenant at a facility developed by Stream Data Centers and deploying TPUs designed by Broadcom and Google. This move aims to give Anthropic direct control over its computing resources, potentially reducing costs.
