On Tuesday local time, Li Feifei, a professor at Stanford University and co-founder of World Labs, called for independent and public sector entities to strengthen oversight of AI technology. She believes that the safety assessment of increasingly powerful AI systems should not be solely the responsibility of the developing companies. Li Feifei pointed out that while internal researchers at AI companies can evaluate the efficacy and safety attributes of individual models, this cannot replace the broad standards established by governments, industry, and academic institutions. She emphasized that it is crucial for public sector entities such as independent agencies and academia to establish benchmarks, as well as for joint responsibility between industry and government.
