CPCA: Annual Industry Forecast Revised Slightly Upwards, Projecting 6% Growth in Passenger Car Retail Sales

On August 5, 2025, the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) made a modest upward adjustment to its annual industry forecast for 2025. According to the revised projections, passenger car retail sales are anticipated to reach 24.35 million units, marking a 6% year-on-year increase. Exports are expected to surge 14% to 5.46 million units. Wholesale sales of new energy passenger vehicles are forecasted to hit 15.48 million units, representing a 27% growth and a penetration rate as high as 56%. Overall, the national automobile wholesale volume is projected to be 34.04 million units, up 8% from the previous year.
