On August 4, SNE Research, an energy market tracking institution, unveiled data indicating that the global usage of batteries for electric vehicles (EVs), plug-in hybrids (PHEVs), and hybrid vehicles reached 504.4GWh in the first half of this year, marking a 37.3% increase year-on-year. Nonetheless, the combined market share of South Korea's three leading battery manufacturers—LG Energy Solution, SK On, and Samsung SDI—declined to 16.4%, a drop of 5.4 percentage points compared to the previous year. Conversely, Chinese battery manufacturers witnessed a continuous expansion in their market share, with Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL) retaining its global leadership position, accounting for 190.9GWh of usage and holding a market share of 37.9%.
