On the evening of July 31, Lixiang Motors unveiled its inaugural pure electric SUV, the Lixiang i8, and presented a test video of the vehicle crashing into a heavy truck at a conference. According to the official introduction, the i8 collided with a rigid obstacle at a speed of 61 km/h, which surpasses the national safety test standard by 1.75 times. Remarkably, the bottom guard plate of the battery pack remained undamaged. During the frontal collision test (at 100 km/h) and the side collision test with a heavy truck, the vehicle's A-pillar, B-pillar, C-pillar, and door beams maintained their structural integrity, all nine airbags deployed successfully, there was no battery pack leakage or fire, the doors unlocked automatically, and the door handles popped open seamlessly.
