The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), alongside the Ministry of Public Security, the State Administration for Market Regulation, and the National Fire and Rescue Administration, have recently issued a joint opinion aimed at strengthening the enforcement of the new national standard for electric bicycles (GB 17761-2024). This standard serves as the cornerstone of the electric bicycle regulatory framework. The opinion mandates that all relevant departments collaborate to ensure the implementation of the new standard, guaranteeing that every aspect of electric bicycle production, sales, and usage adheres to the updated requirements. This measure is intended to elevate the safety standards of electric bicycle products.
