Mercedes-Benz has announced a decision to extend the production of its A-Class models until 2028, pushing back from the originally planned cessation in 2026. This strategic move stems from the persistent robust demand for this entry-level compact sedan in the European market. Despite CEO Ola Källenius's earlier pronouncement that both the A-Class and B-Class vehicles would discontinue by the end of 2025, the A-Class hatchback will continue its production run. This underscores Mercedes-Benz's ongoing reliance on compact cars to sustain sales during its transition towards electrification. Conversely, the B-Class will cease production as scheduled in 2026, with no immediate plans to develop a successor model.
