The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has recently promulgated the mandatory national standard titled "Technical Requirements and Test Methods for Passenger Car Braking Systems" (GB 21670-2025). This standard comprehensively regulates various aspects of braking systems in new energy vehicles, with a particular focus on the single-pedal mode. Among the numerous revisions introduced, a pivotal one concerns the electric regenerative braking system, more commonly known as "single-pedal braking." It explicitly mandates that, under normal conditions, vehicles must not come to a complete stop merely by releasing the accelerator pedal. This landmark standard will take effect from January 1, 2026, aiming to enhance safety and clarity regarding the operation of electric vehicles.
