Furthermore, the company has temporarily ceased accepting all related route transportation bookings. Matson plans to resume services once comprehensive industry standards are established and appropriate solutions are implemented. This decision predominantly impacts shipments from the continental United States to Hawaii, Guam, Alaska, and other destinations, with Hawaii being the most significantly affected. Despite Matson's active research into safety measures for electric vehicle transportation, a recent incident where a transport ship carrying 800 electric vehicles caught fire and sank in the Pacific Ocean last month has heightened industry concerns about transportation safety.
