The Ministry of Finance and the State Taxation Administration have recently revised the consumption tax policy for super luxury vehicles, broadening the tax scope to encompass passenger cars and medium to light commercial passenger vehicles of all power types with a retail price of 900,000 yuan or more per unit, effective as of July 20th. According to Cui Dongshu, Secretary-General of the Passenger Car Association, this adjustment is a response to shifts in market prices and is aimed at fostering rational consumption patterns and promoting green development. Given that super luxury vehicles constitute a minuscule fraction of the overall automotive market, this change is anticipated to have no significant impact on general consumers.
