According to data released by South Korea's Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy on Thursday, the nation's auto exports surged by 2.3% year-on-year in June, reaching a record-high monthly total of $6.3 billion. This uptick was primarily fueled by a substantial increase in exports to Europe and Asia, which successfully mitigated the downward pressure on exports to the US caused by tariff impacts. Despite a year-on-year decline of 8.8% in overall export volume, totaling 244,427 units, the export value increased due to a rise in shipments of high value-added models, including SUVs and electric vehicles. Notably, exports to the US fell for the fourth consecutive month, registering a 16% year-on-year decrease to $2.7 billion.
